Our vision is built upon the foundation of our 6 values that underpin our learning and ethos at The Downley School. These were decided by the staff, parents and children and link directly to the work that we do through our PSHE curriculum. Each half-term we focus on a different value. Our 6 values are:

We believe in Teamwork, fostering a collaborative environment where students, staff, and parents work together, sharing resources and ideas. Through effective communication and community engagement, we create a supportive network that encourages every member to thrive.

Inclusion is at the heart of our school. We celebrate diversity, promote tolerance and believe in equality ensuring that every child feels valued and respected. By embracing different perspectives, we build a culture where everyone belongs and has the opportunity to contribute their unique strengths.

We nurture Resilience in our students, teaching them to embrace challenges with a growth mindset. By fostering a love of learning and metacognitive strategies, we prepare our students to navigate obstacles with confidence and perseverance, developing the grit needed to succeed in a rapidly changing world.

Responsibility is a key pillar of our educational approach. We encourage autonomy and independence, motivating our students to take ownership of their personal growth and development. By understanding boundaries and practicing self-regulation, our students learn the importance of accountability and making informed choices.

We prioritise Respect in our interactions, teaching students to be articulate and polite. By understanding the importance of mutual respect, our school community becomes a place where everyone feels safe to express themselves and explore new ideas. Through adventurous learning experiences, we empower students to discover their potential and achieve their dreams.
