We pride ourselves on being a reading school. We have always achieved well in reading and this has supported us in all other areas of learning and teaching.

It is so important for the children to read on a regular basis with you at home. We use a range of reading schemes and other texts to support reading and comprehension. Our  'Irresistible Curriculum' is based around a quality central text which supports each area of the topic. We have also introduced technology into the classrooms which will support reading within school. We will ask that you read with the children at least three times a week and sign their reading diary. Reading will transport the children to different worlds and on exciting journeys. It provides enjoyment, comfort and knowledge. Reading is an amazing opportunity to share quality time together and also to discuss likes, dislikes, form opinions, investigate countries and learn about the world. The younger the children learn to read  the sooner opportunities are available to them.
