At The Downley School, we are committed to providing individualised support for students with special educational needs, in accordance with the SEND Code of Practice (2015) and the Equality Act (2010). Our SENDCo, Mrs. Heidi Fawcett, oversees the implementation of the school’s Special Educational Needs Policy and coordinates the provision to ensure that each child’s individual needs are met.

Mrs. Fawcett works closely with staff to regularly monitor the progress of pupils with special educational needs, implementing additional interventions when necessary. She also collaborates with external agencies to access specialist advice and provide the best possible support for each pupil.

Our SEND provision follows a graduated approach, assessing each pupil’s individual needs. For those with an Education, Health, and Care Plan (EHCP), we ensure that the support outlined in the plan is delivered within our inclusive mainstream setting, in line with both statutory requirements and our commitment to equality.
